Freedom !

I finally did it!

I gathered up enough guts and forced myself to walk through the entire freedom tunnel!

yes, all 55 blocks of it. I know.

For those of you that dont know what the freedom tunnel is, It is this run down tunnel that starts at 125th street and ends at 70th street. It holds unlimited amounts of trash, and the really silent but deadly amtrak train passes through occasionally (keep in mind i was basically sacrificing my life for these pictures!). But it also comes with amazing lighting and awesome graffitti. My parents don't exactly know I did this but I HAD to post about it so.... if your reading this, hi mom.... hi dad....

It was also really scary because it was just two scrawny 14 yearold girls walking through this (I went with my friend leila...who took the pictures), no really sure what was ahead of us, and what could of eaten or mauled us, so yeah. I hope you guys had a lovely weekend- because here in new york the weather was fantastic!

i'm just getting oh so excited for summer and can't wait to finally be FREE form school-

It's been quite a large chunk of my day that I've been finding very unnecessary recently....

Well anyways I took a day out of my studying to go to cony island in this AMAZING weather

(I hope most of you in NYC did- I know knitting and watching antm and pretending to study is fun, but this is the type of weather people shouldn't pass up)

I wasn't really going anywhere with the outfit.... so ignore that...

but I did bring my tiger mask with me!

OH BTW- that tattoo is NOT real. Like 20 people asked me on the train this morning! I had that kind of feeling again... the feeling of needing to do something drastic!

(no not really the appointment has been set up for a while lawlz)

But yes, I missed my blonde hair from the beginning of the year and my mom let me get it done at a real place this time! yeayeayeaaa

Here's just a little taste of what went down that day at the hair salon

and I think i'm going to pursue my plan of mannnnnnyy years ago to dye my hair EVERY color of the rainbow (I was inspired by a woman on the train with BEAUTIFUL salmon pink hair)!

Me and my friend felt like dirty hipsters and decided to go down to the flea market and look for fake glasses and oversized sweaters (not that I uh got any right)...

I mean at first, we were awfully disappointed because we couldn't find it so we settled with just taking pictures and role around in leaves that were full of dirt and worms and other stuff fourteen year olds shouldn't be rolling around in.

But we did find it eventually! Icame out with some really great vintage shoes, which I should get around to posting... and like I said, I never haggled with an old lady for a large oversized sweater. with orange and blue diamonds on it.

Ello everyone! long time no see.... happy veterans day, election day, and all the other holidays in between. Everything has been quite alright on my part. Eh so sorry I haven't had time to post in ages! Especially for halloween!

So I didn't exactly get pictures ON halloween (how I have no idea)...

But I have the random photo shoot the morning AFTER halloween.

Me and my friend broke into this random roof in soho (It was right above sabon so it smelled pretty amazing too). And pictures soon followed.....

sooooo.... for halloween I was twiggy!

As you can see I dyed my hair blonde for the role, I wore this amazing purple dress from H&M, pop art vintage glasses, and had some pretty insane fake eyelashes.

There is a girl on my bus (who has great style bee tee dubz)

who messaged me the other day about how she loves my style....

Aight.

This is just one of those quick schizophrenic posts in which I try to talk about something other than homework and sound somewhat intellectual/not half asleep. So for those living in a hole and whatnot, all of september magical things happened in NY/paris/milan/paris. FASHION WEEK. WHUT. So I guess I will go for scattered reviews of shows that were just so utterly amazing I made a weird snortgasp of astonishment.

VIKTOR & ROLF: I applause you guys immensely.

Although I have gazed in awe at most of their collections.... I think this might just top them all- if that is possible. They were able to mock this idea of "HIGH FASHUNNNN" and "GEOMETRICS" (to be said in heavy french accents) but in such a beautiful and pleasing sort of way. I know Mcqueen did something similar last season but his was in more of an awkward bolder way. Here, Viktor & Rolf were able to capture this in such a pretty way, yet still show some amazing signs of innovation. I know i know, The colors are infact very cliche for spring/summer but really- its not like its going to burn holes through you eyes (even if it did.... it wouldn't look as fantastic as the dress below. And stop hating- your just jeal.) But really- this collection might inspire me to do something interesting with my tulle that has semi been squished into the back of my fabric closet. Eh.... not in the mood right now.

Makes me want to be hip and whatnot.

Oh and speaking of colors...

I was scanning my blog the other day and realized how super depressed/gloomy my blog has been. I swear I will try to splash some color in along with super exciting news my friends! Either way- have a lovely Friday evening don't bail out on this creepy possessed sad looking child yet-

HEYHEYHEY. its about time. I know. Getting so caught up in freakin highschool (today was freshmen friday- I survived! Others.....not so much)! But like I promised here are pics of Erin Fetherston. I was supposed to go to two other shows (Tory burtch- And I think Proenza Schouler?) I know. WHY NOT? My parents went all like "there are going to be so many fashion weeks and this is your first week of highschool. Do you want to be that girl that is known to just 'blow off school?'"

For fashion week? YES.

So people that were ten times cooler than me that were there (in their flesh and holy presence) : Lynn Yeager, Susie Bubble, Scott Schuman, Bryan Boy, and Irina Lazareanu (she said she loved my outfit!!). To be in the presence of some of the peolple- let alone TALK to them was utter jesus. Life= ALMOST complete (still need to befriend some people and then we're all good).

Sorry for lack of good pictures... Super bright lighting+ schizophrenic 14 year old with camera+using one eye to admire susie bubble in front of me while the other was still focusing on the clothes+ 3rd row+trying to keep my hoopskirt from riding up= these pictures.

Fashion Week to come

Still have to post about fashion week- So far it has been great and still convincing my parentals to let me miss school on wednesday for Tory Burtch! *fingers crossed* But this is just a short outfit post that is soooooo less important than fashion week, you see, I like to keep my fans sitting on the edge of their seat (all two of them. hi mom hi dad.). Any how, Went to the flea market with super cool friend who takes super cool pictures (which I should also get to posting. Shun the slacker.) and found these amazing leather (once again- shun vegetarian) boots from the 1920's (the animal would be dead by now- right? guilt guilt guilt). But big mistake wearing them to school and walking all over manhattan in them, they weigh I good 3 pounds. But worth every painful step. Here you go!

Three words: Fashion Night Out. Besides having to be back by 8:00 for various reasons, it was so utterly and excruciatingly amazing. My first stop was opening ceremony and then I just walked around and saw cool people wearing better clothes than me and whatnot. Bee Tee dubz... Awesome well dressed black men vogueing in the display of opening ceremony=LIFE.

YUM. Made me feel like a puny freshman. Oh wait.
Speaking of which, don't be freshman. Be super smart or something and just skip it. Seniors hate you and dont get you and you wander around an ungly building in awesome outfits hopelessly lost. Not worth it. And dreading freshman friday tomorrow (wearing smething to really creep out the seniors. what.)... and holy shit why are there 800 kids in my grade? Graduation must take like 5 friggen hours. WHAT IS THIS NON SANITY????

Vogue was hosting this really cool thing at topshop with all of these SPECIAL and SHINY clothes. my favorite of all time favorites was this GIANT geometric jacket that I love love loved and would seriously consider hurting someone for it. no joke. And I would buy all $340 of it just to freak out the kids at high school. BE AFRAID my friends. I WANT IT SOOOOOO BADDDDDDDD.

Guess what everyone- Im 14! Ew. Don't turn 14, its such a bad number. Really. My birth day was yesterday and It was so mucho fun- my 2 friends came over with plenty of swing riding and sailing. And then my parents took me out to and AMAZING dinner at north fork table where I had an incredible swordfish dinner. So now that I am an obnoxious 14 year old more lying is necessary- why I utterly lied about switching blogs. I guess eventually I will. But my lazy 14 year old self is just sort of attached to this. But this is the last post. I promise. Maybe. I hope. I just sort of felt like New school, New year, New blog all kind of mesh.

But if ANYONE is interested (hint hint) saving up for these. Or any pair of doc martens. But Kindof failing at the whole thing. And its somewhat IMPOSSIBLE to get them on ebay. hmmmm... Well uh size 7/8 if anyones interested. or anything. woot to Dr. Martens.

My outfit I wore today is once again inspired from a Fashion156 I absolutely love there entire website and they have the best photoshoots! Woot to them. I just loved the earthy florals that I thought really went with outfit below.

I absolutely love love love my new romper and it's just super versatile and comfy (both a plus!).

I have been on the lookout for a great pair of high waisted shorts and got these vintage ones just the other day! I thought I would use the picture above for a possible outfit inspiration- I feel like the picture makes no sense but I love just every part of it!

Went thrifting/Bagel eating with Jessica Just this morning... We were origionally going to go to this sit down sushi place but it was kind of stuffy and smelled like school locker room (at least to me) So while the waitress was getting water we sort of made a run for it... oops. Anyways, I was on the lookout for clothes for high school! I was pretty Successful but only found two Items. Technically one. Jessica found an AMAZING DvF sweater with a gorgeous print for me! For $18 (with store credit-6!)- and I found this really cool brown ruffle shirt which will be perfect for highwaisted-ness.

Im actually super jetlagged right now and currently posting at four in the morning....

I really don't have an excuse for my long and unnecessary absence- well not a good one. I came down with a bad case of SARS?? Got kidnapped in italy?? Laziness? mmm.... So here I am posting something insanely incredible that should of been posted ages ago (in italy preferably)- lets here a huzzah to procrastination! Anyhoo...

It took me very recently to realize that my grand muther must have some incredible vintage designer clothes from back in her day (she is that kind of gal). When I asked my muther if she had anything she said she had TONS of stuff- a whole TRUNK of vintage designer clothes. That rotted and was thrown out. what the what??? NOT COOL. But she still had a lot of Items left that Im pretty excited about: This gorgeous bright blue skirt that has a ton of cape/drapieness/dress in its future, This amazing vintage brown leather travelers bag, a white yves saint laurent skirt suit (in italy. May take some convincing still), This gorgeous Red ungaro bag (coming via mail- curse my awful packing skills), and my favorite- This GORGEOUS vintage leather prada bag. Lets here another huzzah for vintage prada!! Im now done rambling and Ill just SHOW:

Italy has just been the BOOM. I mean, besides My grandmother being on my back the whole time going all "MANGIA MANGIA" on me and saying Im too pale and short and skinny and a bunch of other stuff that makes me feel really good about myself...

I feel like such a hypocrite for going all tourist on you after mocking them on halloween, or such. oops. But I was too tempted not waste the picture.

Afterwards we went to visit my moms friend who took me shopping amongst the fleamarkets of Italy! During this time we ran into an INCREDIBLE thrift store that had exuberant 80s EVERYTHING. Im so glad I didnt bring my life savings because I would've sacrificed college fer this store. I had a limit to 25 euros so all I could buy was this tiny jacket but it's still is pretty magical in its special shiny pruple way.

But what really kicked me in the butt for not having money was this whole pipe which carried hanging vintage sequined jackets. They were just like the topshop ones that I long except half the price, legitimate vintage, and like SUPERNOM times cooler (although I still would never pass down one of those topshop jackets. Birthday in less than a month...hmmmm???)
They also had really unique pieces like this awesome silver/green/gold bow headband. Or below- the supa sequined corset? WOOT.

But the coolest thing of the entire store? The salesperson whom her name never learned. :( she was sooooo nice and awesome and supa cool and like the utter shizzzlebomb of mother booms. Plus she gave me a dicount on my jacket :) She probably thought I was some freak for wanting to take a pic with her but I got her approval of posting it on ze interweb.

Hey there... sorry about that promised non absense...er.

I've been busy going to the beach and eating italian food. SO STRESSFUL. oops. I gloated.

Anyways. Im here for important reasons. The other day was skimming through some of my grandmums vintage magazines and found this AMAZING intalian home ec/60 mom magazine: Rakam. There covors are STUNNING and photoshoots perfect. I tried taking pics from some of my favorites! Enjoy!

Another important thing: Daily work it, whom I met at a weardrobe meet up was super cool enough to bestow upon me creative blogger award! woot. The deal is you say seven facts about you, and then nominate another seven people! Here goes...

1. Born in raised in Manhattan. All my life. Still don't know whether this is good or bad.

2. I am vegetarian, but also can't stand creamy things such as yogurt, or cheeses like bri or feta.

Guess what children- the terminator is in italy!! I seemed to have failed to mention I go every summer and may speak fluently but- uh, better now than never? I don't know how frequent posts will be; being that I will probably be on the beach and pretending to be a tourist. But we do get a break from all of those roof pictures (finally)...

But here's the last one: A while back I had posted my "dream high school wardrobe". Consisting of Docs, hoop skirts, crinolines, etc... WOOHHOOOO. 103rd post!!!! see- normal bloggers celebrate their 100th post. But me? normal? Tell that to the barbies hanging from my stairs. So in honor of the 103rd post I decided to show you guyz something supa special! Well in the beginning of july my gorgeous wife rubes came to visit before she left for france!!! Well- we had the best most non normal time possible...enjoy.

This is one of the most typical looks we got from people as we hung our pet unicorn, irman, out of my window and tried attacking people with him. It doesn't get any better than this.

We also went to the doughnut plant and enjoyed some awesome creme-brulee and blueberry doughnuts and even irm had some.

We got lost on the way back when walking irm. Than we thought this creepy fat guy was following us. What i dont get is why im telling you all this...

I forgot to mention how we had a boomtastic time shopping at topshop and taking our uh, "high FASHUNNN" photo shoot on my roof??? cute. like I mentioned earlier your not exactly looking at the blog of a normal child.

Sorry I have been so negligent but my computer is like 0. We are still trying to get it open and last night I had a dream that we finally got it open and there was nothing inside. cute. Well pictured above is part of the AMAZING line of a brand I personally have never heard of (sorry if this is some insanely famous brand that everyone knows about)- Wunderkind. Not only did they use tophats but they had so many great patterns and everything sort of transended together beautifully. The designer- Wolgang Joop, Is reletively young in the industry and I can utterly see him doing well! P.s.- so excited for my internship interview on monday!!!!!!

Dude-- its couture week!!!eqwljnfaplwrguihae. Its the very beginning so hardly and shows are in but here just a few that I felt like critiquing with my non-worthy fashion eye. So far I am really excited!!!!!!! There have been a lot a lot ofgreat pieces so far and here are just a few!

I like chanel and whatnot and all of their pieces are GORGEOUS but it felt like every single piece was a skirt suit. It went something like: Skirt suit, skirt suit, skirt suit, dress, skirt suit, etc... But if you go HERE and see the entire collection the final pieces are stunning. But above is my favorite by far of all the many skirt suits.

Just some tiny glimmers of satisfaction for while I am at sailing camp. Because unfortunately when sailing its rather inconvenient to attach records to your head or wear tutus so I must compromise to v-necks, baggy button ups, and shorts.

I would say I was really busy but im kind not really doing anything. Maybe the usual ANTM marathon or making checklists of all the plans that Im probably not going to do over the summer.

So hay there people that I have somewhat been neglecting. Soooo.... um. Not much explaining here- Graduation dress. Finished on time. Surprisingly. I wish I could of added shoulder pads. but making it was so much fun (as stressful as it was)!

and THEN the next day we had our graduation cruise and whatnot. So bunches of fun basically.This dress is basically my graduation present. My parents le me splurge on topshop! It was on the darker side so I added some feminine piece such as the bow/belt/shoes/necklace. But I got another one of A Merry Mishap's fabulous necklaces!! So...voila!

So you know how they have been showcasing fall 2009 wear for the past... who knows how long?? Yeah.. I realized that yesterday. If fashion were a class I would be desperately failing right now. erm. heres the cage skirt i tried making... yea it looks ok from afar but when you see it in real life- its a disgrace to diy :( oh! and also you may notice the heels i am wearing in these pics. Yesterday I went to a thrift store in tribeca called housing works looking for my second graduation dress (we need two- one for the graduation and one for the cruise dinner).

I didnt find a dress but I found these stunning vintage leather heels that look like the jeffery campbelle ones here,
except they are all black and the heels are MUCH higher. From the top of the ankle to the bottem of the heel they are five inches! I own one pair of heels that I have worn once. So i will most likely trip as I am on stage and most likely make a fool of myself. oh well.

And why heels if I will trip? Well, you may have noticed I am not the tallest cornstalk of the bunch and EVERYSINGLE girl I asked said they were wearing heels. So they would be adding a couple inches to their already 5'4'' self. All the girls lined up would look like this -----_----. The underscore is me. So I decided to keep from looking evven shorter than my 4'10'' self, I went with heels.
They were originally $18 and I was lik no way José. But then this guy working there prancing around the store shouting for the next hour all items in the store are going to be 40% off. So I bought them right away for $10! still feel like I could have done better... But they will go perfectly with the dress I am making (I forgot to tell yuo guyz, im making my graduation dress!) which you will see AT graduation no earlier.

Alright everyone. be prepared for a really cool person. I was doing my usual sunday browsing on etsy when i came across this. this e;lghegh amazing seller, iheartnorwegianwood. I just had to use random typing to even partially explain how utterly awesome she is. I would by any of her items. ANY OF THEM. I WOULD HURT SOMEONE FOR THEM (but i will refrain...for now). Here i just picked out my top 5. Which was really hard. But here ya go...

ok people. This item here- kind of pure exuberance. Im mean first- a really cool harness. But then- TO PAIR IT WITH FRINGED SOULDER PADS?!!?!?! that is just purecoolpersonepicOMUGOSHwhycantibesocoolimgoingtogocry amazing. genius.
Second... i have no idea what it is. Is it a necklace? is it my science project from last year? this would just leave my classmates bewildered and I would just chucklay hucklay in a corner while rubbing my hand in a circular motion at their confusedness.
Probably THE favorite item. I might beg my parents. Maybe birthday present (like i could wait til sept) or maybe.... graduation present? happy tuesday present? your cool so we are just going to give you these? i wish. But these pants are just, sigh, so amazing. The colors the pattern, i could only imagine them as the perfect pair of pants- not a shirt or a dress- just those leggings.
ok. this is the only one that seemed reasonable enough to attempt to recreate. well dont try. such a fail. But really- this skirt has sooo much versatility. Its incredible! already shown you can see two completly different auras in each of those outfits. This is probably my favorite part of the cage skirt. besides the fact that it so darn amazing!!!!!!!
Last but not least- GOOD GRAVY TRAIN!! have you ever seen such an exuberant skirt???? I haven't! and to think its handmade is even more insane! Just like the cage skirt, this skirt can go either way. Girly, with a flowy pastel pink top, or more grudge with some lace and studs. In other words- the perfect LBS (pounds- or as others call it, the Little Black Skirt)

So as I said in the last post... my memorial day weekend was pretty hoppin'. Me and my friend visited every yard sale within 1/2 hour that was in the suffolk newspaper. somewhat successful I came out with a joss stone cd, some records (West side story and nina simone) and my friend eugenie came out with a pretty amazing wallet bag for 25 cents and an Ellington record.
Then we went thrifting. and kayaking. and watched fawlty towers. and 30 rock. And reruns of top chef. And grilled tofu. yeah. I know your jealous.

Also over the weekend my mom came back from Italy with a bunch of vintage clothing/jewelry from my grandmama. But she also got these pretty insane overalls for me from the united colors of Benton. Although they kind of fit a little funkily (woah- where did that word come from???) but they were somewhat awesome...
OH MY GOSH EVERYONE I FORGOT TO TELL YOU GUYZ SOMETHING!!!!!! So you know that godly creature which goes by the name of Gail Simmons?!?!?!?! Apparently she reads my blog!!!!!!!! So if you are reading this right now gail- I just want to say that you are the most coolest person in the goshdarn entire world of food-you are kind of really amazingly like supa to the max amazingly fly (is that the hip word they use now adays? Gosh Im getting old). So um, I will stop here before she bbegins to think I am a loser freak stalker out there. So um I LOVE YOU. ok. stopping.

hey look everyone!!!! its my twin sister!!!! hehe... fooled you there I could feel yur telephonic waves from here. No. its just me. sorry, I also felt you getting really excited. BUT I AM SUPA EXCITED BECAUSE I GOT MY HAIR CUT!!!!!! Its a mix of a shaggy pixie cut and a shorter version of victoria beckham and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it! not to be modest or anything.....

oh and yesterday was so amazing because my gymnastics team got to go on good mornin america for the whole dancing with the stars thing!!!! It was soooooo much fun even if we were the losers in the background waving signs about how we love you guys and what not. Totally worth the three hours of sleep I got because of it!!! :)

this monday/sunday/saturday. Has just been oh so satisfying to start things off I got a necklace in ze mail from the one and only a merry mishap (I suggest you do better things than reading this blog and check out her site over yonder on my sidebar). So yea...

and just because she's too cool for school she threw a little extra gift which was this awesome crocheted head band!!! thanks for being cool. unlike me. ima nerd. Just look at pic above for proof. ;) ew. who does that winky smiley things anyways?!?!?! wait- i forgot i was a nerd...

So also amazing- On sat I went the taste of tribeca with my friend and you may not know my unhealthy obsession towards topchef...but I have one. I GOT TO MEET GAIL SIMMONS MY FAVORITE JUDGE IN THE WORLD SHE IS THE TOTAL SHIZZLEBOMB my friends!!!!!!!! And when I asked if I could take a pic with her she was all like, "aare you kidding? I want to take a picture with YOU". *slowly melts into pool of happiness*

they were having a lamb cookoff thingy and they chose random ppls to bring up to the stage to interview by some famous food critic and I got pulled out as he complimented my oufit. He asked me to describe my outfit (weird) and he asked what my favorite lamb was except im a vegatabletarian and the crowd was all OOOOHHHAAHHHH. yea. cool right?

Danny Roberts- of igorandandre.blogspot.com, can I worship you? Never have I seen such meticulous and gorgeous drawings incorporated real life scenes, people and high fashion sketches. Each picture has such an awkward beauty that is so stunning it should have its own word invented to describe it.

Every one of his pictures are so lifelike, so real, but with this fantasy like twist just contorted around it. It is so hard putting the originality of his work into words. But the circles around models cheeks, the dark definitive shading all just complete and amazing piece of art.
erg. All this raving is making me feel like I need to shut up so you guys can just sit in silence and you know, admire his beautiful work..... But here are just a few of the many many many many many pictures that I would absolutey kill or hurt something for (watch out. not kidding. (ok. im kidding jut a little)). So sit back and admire. NOW. i demand you. as I give the stink eye to those who just walked away from the computer confused. But really. He is AMAMAMAMAMZINGGGG.
The half shading on this picture is supa exuberant and reminds me of all of my failed attempts at trying to get the light on only half of my face :( sorry I suck.

So....I have a haircut scheduled on May 21st which is right around the corner. I had a lot of time on my hands so I thought it only made sense to start choosing our a hairstyle instead of going to the salon with absolutely nooooo idea. I have had uneven hair before and short hair before so Im thinking of mixing the two for a victoria beckham kind of look... I also have like ten other ideas but Im also leaning towards twiggy/heavy side bang kind of thing. let me know what you guyz think!!!!

sick. I would expect that after three 14 hour days of touring. How do those adults and retired tour guide teachers do it? But if we missed school without a doctors note, they cut you from graduation cruise. They also tried to entice people with a dressdown day. Worked for me! Te screen on my camera broke and I cant fix the black and white so we are just going to have to stick with that for a while :(

So instead I went with a more goldy oldie look and cranked the exposure up a notch. erm. I wish you could seeeee the colors but those camera gods obvz are holding a grudge against me at the moment. Love you guys anyways!

So D.C. was great and many many many pictures are coming your way. Beside gifts I made two exciting purchases: Nerd glasses from the science museum (they came with an "are you a nerd?" quiz. I am 100% NERD. ALL HAIL NERDS.) i punched the lenses out because they strained my poor little eyes. And a phone that connects to a cell phone (bad explanation- pics coming).

So anyways I hope your day is nerdfull to your liking because my nerd radars are telling me to do my homework. Yay math!!!

Oh wow. attractive photo time. Why am I makng this face you may ask? Well on monday my grade is taking a class trip to D.C. for a good three days. Joy. We went to boston last year. By the end of the trip- people were daring each other to go in the bus bathroom as me and my friends were occupied in the back reinacting germanys next top model.... well anyways we have to be at friggen school at freaking 5:15 IN THE MORNING!!!!!! THAT is why I am making that disheaveled face. So dont expect any postings till thurs unless I can get internet in the hotel! So farewell my friends!
